Two-Stage Beard Dye Application Guide
Apply the Natural Beard Dye Colour Base first, followed by your chosen beard dye. Mix each product using 1 part powder : 3 parts warm water.
Before you begin: Your beard should be at least 1 cm long. Complete a patch test 48 hours before every use. Do not apply to broken, inflamed or recently irritated skin.
What You Will Need
- Natural Beard Dye Colour Base
- Your chosen beard dye shade
- One or two clean non-metal bowls
- Warm water
- Applicator brush
- Clean towel
- Timer
Step 1 — Prepare the Colour Base
In a clean non-metal bowl, mix 1 part Natural Beard Dye Colour Base with 3 parts warm water. Stir until the paste is smooth and has a yoghurt-like consistency.
Step 2 — Apply the Colour Base
Using the applicator brush, work the paste evenly through the beard from roots to ends. Leave it on for 20–30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water only.
Step 3 — Prepare the Beard Dye
In a clean non-metal bowl, mix 1 part beard dye powder with 3 parts warm water. Stir until smooth. Long, thick or dense beards may require more product.
Step 4 — Apply the Beard Dye
Apply the mixture evenly from roots to ends, ensuring that the beard hair is fully coated. Leave it on for 15–30 minutes, following the instructions supplied with your product.
Step 5 — Rinse and Pat Dry
Rinse thoroughly using warm water only. Remove all visible residue, then gently pat the beard dry with a clean towel.
Aftercare
- Do not shampoo the beard for 24 hours.
- Do not apply beard oils for 36 hours.
- The final colour may continue developing for up to 48 hours.
- Coarse, resistant or predominantly white beard hair may require two or three applications over several days to build the desired result.
- Use a clean non-metal bowl and applicator brush for each stage.
- Apply the Natural Beard Dye Colour Base first, followed by the chosen beard dye. Do not mix the two products together.
- Choose a shade close to your natural beard colour rather than automatically choosing the darkest shade.
