The Bohemian King's - Natural Beard Dye
Our Beard Dye: Plant-Based Beard Colour for Men
Natural-Looking Colour. A Different Approach to Beard Grooming.
For men who want to look sharper, not different.
Your beard is part of your identity. Whether you're beginning to notice a few grey hairs or simply prefer a more consistent shade, colouring your beard should be about maintaining a look that feels right for you.
At The Bohemian King’s, we take a different approach to beard colouring.
Our beard dyes use plant-derived ingredients, including henna and indigo, traditionally used to colour hair. Formulated without PPD or ammonia, they offer an alternative to conventional oxidative beard dyes.
Our philosophy is simple: natural-looking colour that works with your beard, your appearance and your individual style.
What Makes The Bohemian King’s Beard Dye Different?
🌿 Plant-Based Colour Ingredients
Our botanical colouring system uses ingredients including henna and indigo to produce a range of brown and black beard shades.
✓ Formulated Without PPD or Ammonia
Our formulas do not contain these conventional hair-dye ingredients. However, botanical ingredients can also cause allergic reactions, so patch testing remains essential.
✓ Designed for Beard & Moustache Hair
Facial hair varies considerably in thickness, texture and natural colour. Our application guidance takes these differences into account.
✓ A Colour Base Included With Every Pack
Every beard dye pack includes a complimentary 20g sachet of our Natural Beard Dye Colour Base, which can be used as an additional preparation step when needed.
✓ Natural-Looking Colour Development
Our botanical colours may continue developing for 24–48 hours after application. The final result depends on your starting colour, beard texture and application technique.
The Power of Botanical Beard Colour
Our beard dyes use plant-derived colour ingredients instead of conventional oxidative colourants.
🌿 Henna — Lawsonia Inermis
Henna has a long history of use in hair colouring.
Its naturally occurring colour compounds contribute warm tones and form an important part of our botanical beard-colouring system.
🌿 Indigo — Indigofera Tinctoria
Indigo works alongside henna to produce deeper brown and black colour tones.
The combination of these botanical colour ingredients helps create the characteristics of our different beard dye shades.
🌿 Other Botanical Ingredients
Our formulations also contain other plant-derived ingredients, including botanicals traditionally used in cosmetic hair care, such as amla and bhringraj.
Each botanical has its own history of use in grooming preparations.
For complete ingredient transparency, please refer to the full ingredient list supplied with your chosen product.
Four Beard Dye Shades. Find Your Natural Look.
Every beard is different, and choosing the right shade is an important part of achieving a natural-looking result.
Our range includes four beard colours:
Midnight Black
Designed for men with naturally black or very dark beard hair.
Dark Brown
A deeper brown shade for darker beards and salt-and-pepper colouring.
Natural Brown
A medium-brown option for men looking to maintain or achieve a balanced brown beard colour.
Light Brown
A lighter shade for naturally lighter brown beards and softer-looking colour results.
Our advice: Choose a shade close to your natural, non-grey beard hair rather than automatically selecting the darkest available colour.

Simple Beard Colouring, With Extra Support When You Need It
One of the advantages of The Bohemian King’s beard-colouring range is the flexibility to choose an application approach that suits your beard.
Option 1 — Apply Your Beard Dye on Its Own
For many men, particularly those with relatively even natural beard colour or smaller amounts of grey hair, their chosen beard dye can be applied directly without using the Colour Base first.
Simply prepare and apply the dye according to the instructions supplied with your product.
You do not need to apply the Colour Base every time you colour your beard.
Option 2 — Use Our Natural Beard Dye Colour Base First
For men with particularly coarse, resistant beard hair or a high proportion of grey or white hair, we recommend considering our Natural Beard Dye Colour Base as an additional preparation step.
The Base is applied before your chosen beard dye shade, following the separate application instructions.
Individual results vary, and some resistant grey or white hairs may require further applications to achieve your preferred colour.
Included With Every Beard Dye Pack
There's no need to purchase a second product to try our Colour Base.
Every beard dye pack already includes a complimentary 20g sachet of Natural Beard Dye Colour Base.
It's there when you need it, giving you the flexibility to adapt your beard-colouring routine to your individual hair characteristics.
What Results Can You Expect?
Botanical beard colouring is influenced by several factors:
-
Your natural beard colour.
-
The proportion of grey or white hair.
-
Beard thickness and texture.
-
Preparation and application technique.
-
The time allowed for colour development.
Some men may achieve their preferred result following one application. Others, particularly those with coarse or predominantly white beard hair, may need more than one application.
Our shades may continue developing over the 24–48 hours following application, so allow time to assess the final colour.
For best application results, we recommend using our beard dye on beard or moustache hair at least 1 cm in length.
Very short stubble is not recommended.
Understanding PPD in Conventional Beard Dyes
Many conventional permanent beard and hair dyes contain para-phenylenediamine (PPD), an ingredient used in oxidative colouring systems.
PPD is an established skin sensitiser, and some individuals may develop allergic reactions following exposure.
Our beard dyes are formulated without PPD or ammonia, offering an alternative for men who prefer plant-derived colouring ingredients.
However, no cosmetic colouring product can be guaranteed to be free from allergic reactions. Even naturally derived ingredients can cause sensitivity in some individuals.
